Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by frost."
Yeah, I didn’t update while on the trip. Things just got so busy while I was there! Well, while I was there I went to 2 college visits. The first one was MCAD, which is a BEAUTIFUL school! I love it! It has so many opportunities & accomendations for the students! The other one was UMD. It is a great school! It has a huge campus & a ton of opprtunities for housing, but I will say I like the housing at MCAD better! Anyways, I have a ton of shit to get done before I can even apply to either school! busybusybusy!
The pictures we took are here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/album.php?aid=301619&id=902570633
We didn’t take alot because like I said we were busy roaming the city like mad! The only down fall of the trip was the 14 hour drive and the 14 hour drive back! It sucks being cramped in a car for that long.
Anyways, individual evaluations:
MCAD: The first thing I noticed that I loved was the campus is covered in art which is not only great viewing pleasure, but it’s student work which provide great exposure! Also, their housing is what I was looking for in a school; opportunity to house alone, private kitchen & bathroom, & very close to campus! I really, really liked that students get a private studio space and that the classrooms are roomy! I’m tired of being cramped into small art spaces here in high school! A huge thing that got me was the class sizes are small! The location of the school is awesome because it’s in the city, which everyone knows I love the big city, but it’s also in a residential area so it feels safe!
UMD: I also like the location of this school because it has a big city feel, but also the feel of a small city town (if you know what I mean). I like the housing opportunity that includes dorms or apartments, but I dislike that there is no private bathroom or kitchen & you can’t live alone. Well, who knows, maybe that would be good for me? Also, a big plus was the schools & the dorms are connected so even in the winter you can travel to class warm!
Right now, dealing with colleges, I’m also going to look at the Columbus college & the local Edinboro college later on. So, far I really want a school dedicated to art so MCAD and the Columbus one are my tops. I guess we’ll see what happens!
(maybe I’ll make a part 2 for this…..maybe)
